On Page SEO
On page SEO means making changes to your site that lets Google know what your site is about and ensuring there are no barriers to Google being able to find and index the information. The former is discussed in this section, whereas the latter is discussed in the Technical section of the site.
The way to apply SEO to a new or existing website is reasonably straightforward. First, you need to do keyword research, which means finding out what people search for related to your business.
Once that has been established, you should group popular keywords together into themes and groups and create content around that, making sure that the same language your customer target market uses is present in your site’s copy and source code.
This will feed into your overall content strategy, which will no doubt have influences from other business stakeholders, including product, marketing, risk and legal. Think of SEO as driving content strategy from the customer’s point of view.
Doing this, however, will not in and of itself guarantee your site ranking on page 1 of Google search results overnight. What it will do is make Google understand what your site is about, which is the first step in the process. Find out how to do each step in the child pages of this section.
